In the large percussion ensemble version, the musical material of Vergnügungszug is expanded and distributed more flexibly across a broader instrumental palette. The train-inspired sound effects – including sandpaper blocks and train whistle – remain central to the character of the piece.

The larger instrumentation allows for increased layering and dynamic shaping while preserving the rhythmic vitality and humour of Strauss’ original polka.

This version is published together with the percussion quartet setting.
A trio version for Styrian accordion and mallet instruments has also been developed.
