Sticking Together opens almost imperceptibly with a rhythmic pattern on the pitch A, emerging gradually from silence. This pulsating figure forms the structural basis of the first section. Sustained tones above and below create a contrapuntal layer against the recurring rhythm.

A second section introduces a new rhythmic framework in the lower register of the vibraphone. As before, long sustained tones in the upper register provide contrast and harmonic support.

The following passage expands into widely spaced harmonies, increasing the overall intensity. At the fading climax, the reduced rhythmic figure from the opening reappears.

The outro functions as a structural inversion of the introduction. The melodic material is progressively stripped away, returning to a single pitch A, where the piece dissolves back into silence.

The title refers to the use of two mallets striking the same bar to create the hovering rhythmic figure that underpins the work.

The piece forms part of the collection Sticking Together and is recorded on the album Alle Jahre Vibra.

The sheet music for this work is published by Vienna Percussion Editions.
