Aurora was recorded with overdubs for the album Zwischen zwei Welten. The composition is based on a repeating four-chord loop, over which a calm and gradually unfolding melody is introduced.
Two improvisational sections follow — first on Styrian accordion, then on vibraphone. The dynamic intensity increases steadily, culminating in an energetic peak.
In the closing section, the thematic material appears in reverse order: the melody is gradually dismantled until only the underlying loop remains. The piece concludes with a low E♭ gong.
A version for six musicians was later arranged for the project Kernöl on the Road in collaboration with the group Quetschklampfa.
