Dinner for Two is conceived as a relaxed jazz waltz built around subtle polyrhythmic interplay between the hands. The left hand frequently articulates a two-beat framework against the three-beat pulse of the right hand, creating a shifting internal tension within the 3/4 metre.

The piece opens with the rhythmic main motif, which forms the structural foundation of the composition. A lyrical and accessible theme unfolds over a light and flowing harmonic progression. A short contrasting section modulates briefly before returning to the principal material.

An improvisational passage follows over the introductory vamp, after which the piece returns da capo to the main theme.

The work forms part of the collection Dinner for Two.

The sheet music for this work is published by Vienna Percussion Editions.
