Perpetuum Mobile

An arrangement of Johann Strauss’ polka “Perpetuum Mobile” for Percussion Septet by Leonhard Waltersdorfer. This arrangement has been commissioned by the percussion section of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Wiener Philharmoniker) and has been used in the intermission film of the New Year’s Concert 2025.

• Player 1: Glockenspiel, Slide Whistle, Triangle, Tam-Tam, Bird Calls (Nightingale, Quail)
• Player 2: Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Cuckoo (tuneable), Slide Whistle (large)
• Player 3: Vibraphone, Bird Whistle
• Player 4: Marimba (4 ⅓ octaves), Bird Whistle
• Player 5: Marimba (5 octaves), Bird Whistle
• Player 6: 2 Timpani, Glockenspiel, Cuckoo (tuneable), Siren, Whip, Vibraslap, Flexatone
• Player 7: Alto Glockenspiel, Touch Bells, Mouth Organ (Eb Major), Slide Whistle, Musical Saw, Triangle, Lion’s Roar, Suspended Cymbal
