Between orchestra pit, concert stage, mallet instruments, and global percussion.
Leonhard Waltersdorfer is a Vienna-based percussionist and composer whose work moves between orchestral tradition, chamber music, and contemporary performance practice.
He is a member of the stage orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and is regularly active as an orchestral and chamber musician in Austria and abroad.
His artistic work centres on mallet instruments — as a performer as well as a composer and arranger — alongside detailed transcriptions of the playing of Gary Burton and Makoto Ozone and the exploration of instruments such as Array mbira, handpans, and musical saw.
