Johanna Seitinger and Lukas Maierhofer, both originally from neighbouring villages in the Mürztal region of Styria, began writing music together as a quiet counterpoint to local rivalries. Their songs draw directly from this rural background, told in Styrian dialect and rooted in everyday life, local colour and emotional extremes.
The debut album opens a vivid narrative world: portraits of small-town characters, observations of fading social spaces, stories of desire, obsession, humour and separation. While firmly grounded in their regional identity, the music moves freely between Austrian folk traditions, jazz influences and accessible pop textures.
Alongside original compositions, the album includes selected traditional and historical songs to which the duo maintain a personal connection.
The recording brings together a diverse group of Austrian musicians, resulting in a richly coloured ensemble sound that balances subtlety, wit and instrumental interplay.
