Large Ensemble Version

This arrangement of Kaleidoskop was created for a specific concert programme and expands the trio concept to a larger ensemble setting. The calm opening theme, with its shifting metres over a constant pulse, remains structurally intact.

The increased number of performers allows the polyrhythmic layers — originally realised in the studio through overdubs — to be performed live. During the vibraphone solo over the G drone, a metronome with bell articulates a half-note triplet across two bars, functioning as an additional rhythmic layer within the texture.

Handpans play a central role in shaping the atmospheric character of the piece.

The work also exists in trio and quartet versions.
