The duo version of Colours expands the original solo work into a dialogue between vibraphone and marimba. The material is distributed between both instruments, creating a layered texture while maintaining the calm, wave-like motion of the piece.
Beginning in D major, the harmonic language gradually broadens through subtle shifts in register and resonance. At the centre stands a sustained fermata on A♭ — the point of greatest harmonic distance from the opening key — before the music returns to D major.
The focus remains on sustained sound, gentle transitions, and a continuous sense of flow, with both instruments contributing to a shared harmonic space.
The work is recorded on the album Alle Jahre Vibra.
